Captain Harry Kane says England "have another level we can reach" as they bid to win the World Cup for the first time since 1966.

England captain Harry Kane has publicly defended head coach Thomas Tuchel after the German's recent comments were interpreted as frustration with the team's performances. Speaking ahead of the World Cup, Kane insisted that Tuchel's high standards are exactly what the squad needs to reach their full potential. "The coach demands a lot from us, and that's a good thing," Kane said. "He knows we have another level we can reach, and he's pushing us to get there. We haven't hit our peak yet, but we're working hard every day to improve." Tuchel's remarks came after a series of friendly matches where England showed inconsistency in attack and occasional lapses in defense. The manager called for "more intensity" and "better decision-making," sparking media speculation about tension in the camp. However, Kane dismissed any notion of discord: "The criticism is constructive. We welcome it because it makes us better. There's no issue between the players and the coach." England's recent tournament record includes a World Cup semifinal in 2018, a European Championship final in 2020, and a World Cup quarterfinal in 2022. Kane believes the team has gained valuable experience and now needs to execute under pressure. "We have world-class players, but football isn't played on paper. We have to bring our training into matches, especially in knockout games." Tuchel, who took over from Gareth Southgate, has emphasized tactical discipline and high pressing. His approach differs from his predecessor, but Kane says the players are adapting. "Every coach has his philosophy. Our job is to execute it. Tuchel's tactics are very clear, and we just need to show them on the pitch." Looking ahead to the World Cup, Kane is cautiously optimistic. "We know the fans have high expectations, but we also know our own quality. The group stage won't be easy, but our target is to win the tournament. We still have time to fine-tune, and I believe we can reach that level." England will play one more friendly before departing for Qatar. Kane stressed unity within the squad: "We're all in this together—players, coaches, staff. Outside noise won't affect us. We're focused solely on winning games."
