DR Congo came from behind to beat Uzbekistan 3-1 in the final group match, securing second place in Group K and a spot in the Round of 16. Uzbekistan finished bottom with zero points, and South Korea's hopes were dashed as they missed out on the knockout stage.

In a decisive Group K match at the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, DR Congo defeated Uzbekistan 3-1 to claim the second qualifying spot for the Round of 16. The result eliminated South Korea, who had been hoping to advance with a draw in their final group game. Uzbekistan started brightly and took the lead in the 15th minute through a header from defender Abdullayev from a corner kick. However, DR Congo responded well and equalized in the 32nd minute when striker Mbemba volleyed home from a cross. The first half ended 1-1. In the second half, DR Congo took control. In the 58th minute, midfielder Kabasélé's long-range shot was parried by the goalkeeper, and substitute Ngonga tapped in the rebound to make it 2-1. Uzbekistan pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but left gaps at the back. In the 83rd minute, DR Congo counter-attacked swiftly, and Mbemba scored his second goal of the match to seal the victory. With this win, DR Congo finished second in Group K with 4 points, level with South Korea but with a superior goal difference. Uzbekistan ended the group stage with three defeats and zero points. South Korea's earlier draw meant they could not overtake DR Congo, and thus they were eliminated from the tournament. DR Congo's journey to the knockout stage has been remarkable. After losing their opening match 2-0 to the group winners, they fought back to draw with South Korea and then secured a comeback victory against Uzbekistan. Coach Desabre praised his team's resilience: "The players never gave up. We deserved this result." For Uzbekistan, making their World Cup debut, the tournament was a learning experience. Despite losing all three matches, they showed promise, especially in the first half against DR Congo. Captain Shukurov said, "We have learned a lot and will come back stronger." With DR Congo's qualification, the Round of 16 lineup is complete. Five African teams advanced: Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Nigeria, and DR Congo. From Asia, only Japan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia progressed, while South Korea and Uzbekistan were eliminated. DR Congo will now face the Group H winners in the Round of 16, scheduled in three days. The African underdogs will look to continue their fairytale run.
