Thomas Tuchel says he is "worried" about England's right-back crisis after Jarell Quansah became the latest in the position to suffer injury.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed deep concern over the ongoing right-back injury crisis after Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah became the latest casualty. Speaking at a press conference, Tuchel said, "I am really worried. The right-back position has been hit by consecutive injuries, making our selection extremely difficult." Quansah picked up a leg injury during training this week and was ruled out of upcoming matches after a medical assessment. The young defender was expected to feature in the upcoming international friendlies, but the injury has disrupted all plans. Tuchel confirmed that Quansah will definitely miss this weekend's game and his condition will be further evaluated. The right-back crisis has been building for some time. First-choice Kyle Walker has been sidelined with a long-term injury, while Reece James and Trent Alexander-Arnold have also withdrawn due to injuries. With Quansah now out, only Kieran Trippier remains as a natural right-back, but he is just returning from his own injury and is not at full fitness. Tuchel stated he will not risk players who are not fully fit, nor will he call up any replacements. Instead, he is considering deploying other players out of position. For example, centre-back John Stones or left-back Luke Shaw could be shifted to the right. "We have to be flexible. Maybe some players will try new positions. The key is to maintain tactical balance," Tuchel said. This injury crisis directly impacts England's preparation for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers. The right-back position, once a strength for England, has now become a weakness. Media and fans have questioned the team's medical and training arrangements, but Tuchel insists injuries are part of football and the team will overcome the difficulties. Quansah's injury also raises concerns about the workload on young players. The 20-year-old has had limited game time at Liverpool this season and may not have been fully prepared for the intensity of international duty. Tuchel acknowledged that the step up from club to international football is significant and young players need more protection. England face two strong opponents in the coming days. Tuchel needs to find a solution quickly, otherwise the right flank could become a target for opponents. He revealed that the coaching staff has prepared multiple contingency plans, including adjusting formations and tactics, to minimize the impact of injuries. Despite the challenges, Tuchel remains optimistic. He believes the squad has depth and quality to cope, and called for patience and support from the public. "Injuries are a challenge every team faces. We will get through this together," he said.
