Liverpool have completed the free transfer of England goalkeeper Khiara Keating from Manchester City on a three-year deal.

Liverpool Women have announced the signing of England international goalkeeper Khiara Keating on a free transfer from Manchester City. The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract, keeping her at the club until the summer of 2027. Keating, who came through the ranks at Manchester City, made 30 appearances for the club, keeping eight clean sheets. She also had a loan spell at Aston Villa in 2023, where she made 10 appearances. Keating made her senior England debut in 2023 and has since earned two caps for the Lionesses. Her move to Liverpool comes after she struggled for regular first-team football at Manchester City, where she was behind Ellie Roebuck and Lydia Williams in the pecking order. The transfer represents a fresh start for the young goalkeeper, who is eager to establish herself as a number one. Liverpool Women manager Matt Beard expressed his delight at the signing: "Khiara is a talented young goalkeeper with huge potential. She has already gained experience at the highest level with Manchester City and England, and we believe she will be a great addition to our squad. Her arrival will strengthen our goalkeeping department and provide healthy competition for places." Keating herself said: "I'm thrilled to join Liverpool. This is a club with a rich history and a bright future for the women's team. I can't wait to get started and help the team achieve its goals. I want to thank Manchester City for everything they've done for me, but now I'm fully focused on Liverpool." The signing is a significant boost for Liverpool Women, who finished fourth in the Women's Super League last season. The club has been active in the transfer market, also bringing in midfielder Marie Höbinger and defender Gemma Evans. Keating's arrival adds depth to the goalkeeping position, with current number one Rachael Laws now facing strong competition. For Manchester City, Keating's departure marks the end of an era for a homegrown talent. The club has a strong track record of developing goalkeepers, and Keating's move to a rival will be seen as a loss. However, with Roebuck and Williams still at the club, City remain well-stocked in goal. The club wished Keating well in her future endeavors. Keating's move to Liverpool is part of a broader trend of player movement in the WSL, as clubs strengthen their squads ahead of the new season. Liverpool will be hoping that Keating can fulfill her potential and help the team challenge for a top-three finish and silverware in the coming years.
