Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Netherlands midfielder Victoria Pelova following her departure from Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur Women have officially announced the signing of Dutch midfielder Victoria Pelova, who joins on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal. The 25-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the North London club. Pelova, known for her technical ability and vision, joined Arsenal from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023. During her time with the Gunners, she made 45 appearances, scoring five goals and providing eight assists, and helped the team win the 2023 Women's League Cup. The transfer comes amid the backdrop of the North London derby rivalry, and Pelova's arrival is expected to bolster Tottenham's midfield. Spurs Women manager Robert Vilahamn said: 'Victoria is a top player, and her experience and quality will be a great addition to our squad. We are delighted she has chosen Tottenham.' Pelova expressed her excitement about the move: 'Tottenham is a great club, and I am looking forward to starting a new chapter here. I thank Arsenal for my time there, but now I am focused on helping Tottenham achieve success.' Tottenham currently sit mid-table in the Women's Super League, and Pelova's addition could provide a significant boost. She could make her debut in this weekend's match against Brighton. Pelova is Tottenham's third major signing of the summer, following the arrivals of defender Ashleigh Neville and forward Beth England. The club is actively building a competitive squad to challenge for European qualification. For Arsenal, Pelova's departure leaves a gap in midfield. The Gunners are reportedly targeting Juventus midfielder Alessia Russo as a potential replacement.
